Bestla

Bestla married Burr and became the mother of Hoenir, Odin, Ve and Vili. She was the daughter of the giant Bolthorn, also written Bölthorn, and the sister of Mimir. In another telling, she was the daughter of Ymir and Mimir’s twin. Another telling made her Thor’s wife and the mother of Odin and Loki. These family ties placed Bestla among the earliest generations of Norse myth. Odin said that he received songs and mead from Bolthorn’s son, whom he identified as Mimir.
